Cedar - Hand-poured candles to tranquility to your home

Cedar is all about simplicity, and this ethos is reflected in both our elegant designs and the ingredients we use. Every single candle is hand-poured in Lizzy's small studio in central Manchester.

The long-lasting candles contain only 100% natural  essential oils which is combined with our European grown rapeseed wax blend which is a more sustainable alternative to soy or paraffin wax. With life getting busier all the time, it’s important to slow down and make time for yourself. Cedar candles can help reset the balance. We bring moments of peace and tranquility to your home.

How did you get to where you are today?
I started candle making when I was rather stressed in my first year of teaching. I gradually built up the business alongside teaching part time and after two years I finally took the plunge and became a full time candle maker!
What task do you prefer to delegate?
I don’t actually have anyone in the studio who I can delegate too but I get a lot of help with any copywriting from my partner, James.
If we asked you to pick your favourite product, what would it be and why?
Selene is my favourite fragrance as I enjoy the ritual of lighting it before I go to bed.
What is the most exciting thing that has happened since you began your journey with Cedar?
Ohh well I’ve been working on a little secret project for a year now and unfortunately due to covid it’s been delayed a few times but next summer it’s finally going ahead.
Which is you favourite process  - Design or Make?
I love blending different essential oils to find a new fragrance.
What do you use everyday that you wish you had designed?
My wax melter – it’s designed to do specifically that but unfortunately there is a big flaw because the nozzle blocks up every time.
What constitutes your perfect day off?
It’s very rare that I have a full proper day off because I’m often replying to emails or messages. I think it’s important to lock the phone away now and again though, get out to nature and if there is a nice county pub involved then that’s even better!
Thanks to Lizzy for taking the time to answer a few of our questions x
