Founded in 2021 by Sarah & Michael Martin, Chilled Indigo is an online homeware boutique offering a curated edit of small-batch, artisanal homeware goods. The concept was to create a brand rooted in a slower, more thoughtful approach to modern living. One that champions independent makers and celebrates slow made, natural and sustainable products above all else.
During the global lockdown, we began to wonder whether there might be others who shared our approach to slow living, and after much planning and plotting, our little store came to fruition on a shoestring budget at our kitchen table in the North of England. The pandemic encouraged a slower pace of life and a greater focus on living and shopping in a more conscious way to minimise our impact on the planet.
With an unwavering vision, Sarah Martin the founder and driving force behind Chilled Indigo, is passionate about the sustainability and authenticity of the objects she handpicks for the online store. Sarah’s meticulously researched collection has been ethically and sustainably sourced from across the UK and beyond, and in keeping with the stores ethos, the collection reflects her disciplined pallet, a love of neutrals and minimal design and favours the handmade process over soulless. mass produced things.
Effortlessly combining the challenges of living with aggressive MS and her love of handmade objects with an inherent uniqueness, she has created an uncompromising tour de force. She works directly with independent makers, who use natural materials and a production process with a minimal carbon footprint.
As Chilled Indigo online will continues to evolve, showcasing beautiful things painstakingly curated for you and your home, we strive to introduce others to a community of incredible artisans that they may not have come across before. We are incredibly proud to support artisans that craft natural and timeless objects, each as individual as the talented people who make them.
Our edit of carefully curated objects, offers an antidote to the modern day mindset of easy disposability. For us, creating a conscious living space means finding a balance between design, functionality, and sustainability.
Whether you purchase or just peruse, we hope you enjoy the experience.
